Fall Update

The cool weather, rain and short days are making it tough to get out and ride but I'm trying not to let that stop me. Lots of warm clothes and a set of lights is keeping the ride alive for now!

Our trail blazer project is coming along well and everything is falling into place. For those of you who are not familiar with the trail blazer project here's a quick summary:

upgrade existing trails to encourage participation from all levels of skill and fitness while reducing the ecological impacts associated with trail use. The goal of this project is to develop a sustainable multi-use trail network by conducting an inventory of existing trails, assessing their current status, adequately signing them, grading them (beginner, intermediate, advanced/expert), and developing a simple map. These measures will encourage mountain bikers to stay on designated trails thus decreasing impacts to adjacent ecosystems and local wildlife.

We have the sign posts in the ground and the sign are ready to be installed on the trails. We also have a first draft of a map with some trail descriptions ready. A few more days of trail work this fall and we should have the McIntyre Trail Network close to completed.

Stay tuned...
